Le programme ERASMUS (European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) a été lancé en 1987 dans le but de favoriser la mobilité des étudiants et la coopération entre établissements de formation supérieure situés dans la CEE et dans les pays de l'EFTA (European Free Trade Association). Les étudiants participent aux IPCS (Inter-University Cooperation Programmes) qui sont des échanges réciproques fondés par accord volontaire entre institutions d'au-moins deux Etats membres. Les périodes d'études à l'étranger varient de trois à douze mois puis sont reconnues et valorisées lors du retour dans l'établissement d'origine.
